Mumbai Police has summoned Kangana Ranaut to appear in the defamation case on Friday 22 January. On Saturday, a Mumbai magistrate court gave the police till February 1 to submit an investigation report in this case.
Javed Akhtar filed a defamation case against Kangana Ranaut in November 2020. In his complaint, lyricist Javed Akhtar has alleged that Kangana Ranaut has said derogatory and baseless things about him.

In the complaint, Akhtar has said that after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, Kangana Ranaut had given many interviews outspoken. In these interviews, Kangana Ranaut has said derogatory things about him and told him of the Bollywood troupe. According to Javed Akhtar, Kangana Ranaut had allegedly accused him that he had refused to speak anything about the relationship with Hrithik Roshan.
