On Monday, the cast and the crew returned to the set in Vasai where actress Tunisha Sharma was found hanging in her makeup room after a small puja. The makeup rooms of Tunisha and Sheezan have been cordoned off and the set has also been freshly painted. However, the team is finding it difficult to cope.
Actress Sayantani Ghosh who plays the antagonist told Bombay Times, “Honestly, I wasn’t prepared. We got to know about the shoot resuming on the set just the previous night. It’s very difficult to cope with what has happened. There are contrasting feelings and emotions. All of us miss Tunisha.”
Abhishek Nigam replaces Sheezan Khan
The makers have roped in Abhishek Nigam to replace Sheezan Khan and also shared a promo from Ali Baba season 2. The channel sharing the promo on Instagram captioned it as, “Kabul ki dastaan jo reh gayi thi adhoori, laut aya hai rakhwala naye andaz mein karne poori (Kabul’s protector return to complete the unfinished story).”
In the promo we see Abhishek Nigam playing the slick, intelligent, and witty thief. The second chapter brings back the saviour of Kabul to protect his people.
The makers had recently affirmed that though a hunt for the new actress is on, but Tunisha Sharma’s character will not be recast. They will be focusing on a new character as the female lead opposite Abhishek Nigam.
For the unversed, Tunisha Sharma, who played the female lead on the show, was found hanging in her makeup room on Christmas Eve. The police have ruled it a suicide. Her ex-boyfriend and the show’s lead actor Sheezan Khan was arrested on charges of abetment and has been in judicial custody since.
