Karin Gist, Wendy Calhoun and Wendy Calhoun created the series based on Lawrence Otis Graham’s book entitled Our Kind Of People. Inside America’s Black Upper Class. The series is set in Oak Bluffs (Massachusetts). The story centers on Angela Vaughn, a single mother. Angela Vaughn tries to defend her family’s name in order to regain it. She discovers a dark secret about the past of her mother during this process. This turns her world upside down.

Is It Possible to Return?

Fox has not yet revealed the fate for the series’ future after it’s been several months. The network usually takes a while to announce the fate of the series. This could also happen in this instance. However, the network said that the show did not achieve great ratings. There is no chance that the show will return with a second series. However, Karin Gist, series executive producer and showrunner, teased that they were rooting for the second season.

Karin stated that the finale ends the storyline which was the focus of the previous twelve episodes. They tried to finish each character’s story in the final moments. They are now waiting for the second season. Karin suggested that if the drama of the first season was too intense, wait until the second season. It will leave you breathless.

Fox recently released their midseason schedule and There was no mention of Our Kind Of People Season 2. Deadline also stated that the first season was made in a way to end with a shorter run. We expect Fox to announce its decision in spring. On a demo of 18-49, the series received a rating of 0.2 and was viewed by 1.35 million people. The chances of a second season are very slim.

The series’ main cast will return for the second season. They include Nadine Ellis and Yaya DaCosta, who play Angela Vaughn. Lance Gross will be reprising his role as Tyrique Chapman with Rhyon Nicole Brown playing Lauren Dupont, and Alana Kay Bright playing Nikki Vaughn. Joe Morton will reprise his role as Teddy Franklin with Kyle Bary playing Quincy Dupont, and Morris Chestnut playing Raymond Dupont.

Raven Goodwin will play Josephine, Nicole Chanel Williams will portray Taylor Woods, while L. Scott Caldwell will portray Olivia Sturgess Dupont. Debbi Morgan will reprise her role as Patricia “Aunt Piggy”, while Melissa De Sousa will play Alex Rivera, and McKinley Freeman will play Nate Robinson. Kay-Megan Washington will reprise her role as Rose Franklin, as will Ahmarie Holmes and Sloane Holmes. Jeff Hephner will play Jack Harmon.
